Based on the methodology used to determine the Sun Protection Factor (REPORT: HCL010-24-C-2-R0; ISSUE DATE: 03/06/2024)  KALME DAY DEFENCE demonstrated the following features:

  • Water resistant
  • Protection against visible light
  • Protection against blue light
  • PA+++ rating, indicating high UVA protection

The Mean SPF (UVB) of KALME DAY DEFENCE determined using Protocol ISO 24444:2019 COSMETICS  is 40.1

This data highlights the efficacy and protective qualities of the product.

The difference between PA+++ and SPF 30 in sunscreen protection lies in the type of ultraviolet radiation they protect against.

  • SPF 30 measures protection against UVB rays, which are the main cause of sunburn. An SPF 30 sunscreen blocks about 97% of UVB rays. The SPF number indicates how much longer you can stay in the sun without getting sunburned compared to unprotected skin.
  • PA+++ indicates a high level of protection against UVA rays. UVA rays penetrate deeper into the skin and contribute to premature aging, wrinkles, and long-term skin damage. The PA rating system uses plus signs, with PA+++ meaning strong UVA protection.

Thus, SPF 30 tells you how well the sunscreen protects against UVB, while PA+++ tells you how well it protects against UVA. For comprehensive sun protection, a sunscreen that has both SPF 30 and PA+++ is recommended because it guards against both types of harmful rays.

In summary:

  • SPF 30 = about 97% UVB protection (sunburn protection)
  • PA+++ = high UVA protection (aging and deeper skin damage protection)

A sunscreen with both provides broad-spectrum protection against UVA and UVB rays.
