New Formula...Same Great Results for KALME Day Defence Cream

Modified on Tue, 19 May at 9:17 AM

We’d like to share an important but reassuring update regarding your KALME Day Defence Cream.

The level of UV protection remains unchanged and continues to deliver SPF40-level protection in testing. However, under current UK and EU cosmetic labelling conventions, products are categorised as SPF30 or SPF50 rather than intermediate values. For this reason, our updated packaging now states SPF30.

The lighter, more easily absorbed texture is the result of a formulation choice aimed at improving compliance and skin feel, making the product more comfortable for daily use. It is important to reassure you that this change does not affect the UV protection performance of the product.

As part of this update, we have made minor adjustments to the formula to ensure continued compliance and optimal skin tolerance. Some ingredients have been refined or replaced with newer, more skin-friendly alternatives, while maintaining the same efficacy and texture that you love.

The updates include an updated preservation system that is gentler on sensitive skin, a more stable and soothing form of liquorice extract, and a cleaner composition aligned with modern dermatological standards.

For example, ingredients such as Chlorphenesin and 1,2-hexanediol have been introduced.

These ingredients are widely used in cosmetic formulations, including those designed for sensitive skin, and are generally considered well tolerated at the concentrations used, helping to:

  • maintain microbiological safety,
  • improve formula stability,
  • and ensure consistent product performance over time.

At the same time, the product’s core purpose remains unchanged: to soothe sensitive skin and support redness-prone conditions such as rosacea.

Rest assured, our KALME Day Defence cream remains the same trusted daily essential - dermatologist-tested, non-comedogenic, and designed to calm, protect, and defend even the most reactive skin.
