Clarol Primer

1. Can I wear makeup over the primer?
Yes. That's exactly what it's designed for. Apply it as the final skincare step before your makeup. It smooths and mattifies the skin so foundation applies more evenly and creates a smoother looking finish. We recommend applying it over Silver Serum and, if part of your routine, Sebopure.
2. Can I wear it without makeup?
Absolutely. Worn alone it mattifies shine and helps blur the appearance of pores, redness and uneven tone, making it a popular no makeup option for keeping oily skin looking smooth and fresh throughout the day.
3. Will it clog my pores or cause breakouts?
No. It was developed specifically for acne-prone skin. The film it forms is breathable, the formula is free from petroleum and added fragrance, and prebiotic inulin helps support the skin's natural microbiome, helping keep blemish-prone skin feeling balanced.
4. Where does it fit in my Clarol routine?
Last. In the morning, cleanse if needed, tone with the Birch Water Toner, apply Silver Serum and Sebopure if you use it, then finish with the primer before applying makeup.
5. Do I need a moisturiser underneath?
Probably not. Silver Serum and Sebopure both have moisturising properties, and the primer's Japanese algae derived Sacran exopolysaccharide helps maintain skin hydration throughout the day. If your skin is particularly dry, use a light, non-comedogenic moisturiser before applying the primer.
6. What does the Japanese algae actually do?
Sacran is a naturally derived exopolysaccharide obtained from the freshwater cyanobacterium Aphanothece sacrum with exceptional water retention properties. In the primer it forms a lightweight, breathable film that helps protect the skin from everyday environmental aggressors while helping maintain hydration and skin comfort.
7. Is it suitable for men?
Yes. Worn alone, with no makeup needed, it's an easy way to keep shine under control and help blur the appearance of blemishes and pores. The fragrance-free formula suits everyone.
8. Can I use it during pregnancy?
The primer is free from many ingredients people prefer to avoid, including added fragrance, SLS, MI and petroleum. However, skin can behave differently during pregnancy, and we always recommend checking with your GP, midwife or pharmacist before introducing new skincare while pregnant or breastfeeding.
