KALME Undercoat

1. Is KALME Undercoat suitable for rosacea-prone skin
Yes. KALME Undercoat was developed specifically for rosacea-prone and reactive skin and is the first step after cleansing in the KALME routine. Its calming peptide helps make skin less prone to the reactions and sensitivity that often come with rosacea, and it layers comfortably under KALME Day Defence Cream.
2. Will KALME Undercoat suit very sensitive skin that reacts to most products?
Yes, that is exactly what it was designed for. The formula is fragrance-free, with no parabens, SLS or MI, and its desensitising peptide helps raise the skin's tolerance over time. As with any new product on very reactive skin, patch test first and introduce it gradually.
3. In what order do I apply KALME Undercoat in my skincare routine?
Apply KALME Undercoat first, straight after cleansing and before any other product. Allow a few minutes for it to absorb, then follow with your serum, day cream, SPF or make-up. If your skin is dry, you can also use it in the evening under your night cream.
4. Can I wear KALME Undercoat under make-up?
Yes. Many customers use it as a calming primer for sensitive skin. Applied first and left to absorb, it creates a smooth, non-greasy base that helps stop foundation and other cosmetics from stinging or triggering a reaction, and helps make-up sit evenly through the day.
5. Can I use KALME Undercoat alongside retinol or exfoliating acids?
Yes. If strong actives have left your skin feeling tight, hot or reactive, KALME Undercoat can be used as your daily moisturiser to keep skin calm and comfortable while it adjusts. If a product is causing ongoing stinging or soreness, give your skin a break from it and let your skin settle first.
6. Is KALME Undercoat good for skin after shaving?
Yes. Smooth a small amount over freshly shaved skin to calm irritation and reduce post-shave rash and dryness. Because it is completely fragrance-free, it will not sting the way many aftershave products do, and it doubles as a light daily moisturiser.
7. Does KALME Undercoat help protect skin from cold weather and central heating?
Yes. Its light protective layer helps reduce moisture loss and acts as a buffer between sensitive skin and everyday environmental stresses such as cold wind, indoor heating and city pollution. Many customers apply it each morning in winter for exactly this reason.
8. Is KALME Undercoat suitable for menopausal skin?
Yes. Skin often becomes more sensitive, drier and quicker to flush during perimenopause and menopause, and many of our customers first discover KALME Undercoat at this stage. It gives hormonally reactive skin a calming daily base layer and light hydration without heaviness or fragrance.
9. Does KALME Undercoat reduce redness?
No, and we want to be honest about that. KALME Undercoat contains no anti-redness ingredients or SPF. Its job is to desensitise skin and act as a protective base. For persistent facial redness, use it under KALME Day Defence Cream, which contains Derma Sensitive caper extract developed to calm redness. The two are designed to work together.
10. How long before I notice results from KALME Undercoat?
Most people notice the light, non-greasy feel and added comfort from the first application. Reduced sensitivity builds more gradually: many customers notice their skin reacting less after two to three weeks of daily use, so give it three to four weeks of consistent use before judging the results.
